We are seeking a visionary and result-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the organization's financial strategy, governance, and operational excellence and report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This role requires a highly accomplished finance executive with strong commercial acumen, exceptional leadership capabilities, and the ability to align financial strategy with the organization's overall business objectives in a dynamic and capital-intensive environment. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of driving financial performance, optimizing resources, managing organizational risk, and partnering with senior leadership to achieve sustainable business success.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the organization's short and long-term financial strategy aligned with corporate goals;
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on financial planning, investment opportunities, business expansion, and strategic initiatives;
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support executive decision-making and long-term value creation;
- Direct the annual budgeting process, financial forecasting, and long-term business planning;
- Develop financial models to evaluate business opportunities, capital investments, and strategic projects;
- Monitor financial performance through KPIs, variance analysis, profitability assessments, and management reporting;
- Present comprehensive financial reports to the Executive Management Team and Board of Directors;
- Oversee bank operations, cash flow planning, liquidity management, and working capital optimization;
- Optimize capital allocation and maintain sufficient liquidity to support business operations and growth;
- Ensure full compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards, Ethiopian tax laws, and all applicable country regulatory requirements;
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and governance frameworks;
- Identify, assess, and mitigate financial, operational, risks including project profitability, cost control, and return on investment (ROI);
- Provide financial oversight for procurement activities, major commercial contracts, supplier agreements, and strategic negotiations;
- Evaluate project feasibility, investment opportunities, and business cases through detailed financial analysis;
- Support financing initiatives, capital expenditure planning, and investment structuring;
- Lead the implementation and optimization of ERP systems and digital finance solutions;
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development;
- Collaborate closely with operations, procurement, human resources, sales, and other business functions to align financial objectives with operational priorities;
- Represent the organization in engagements with auditors, regulators, financial institutions, investors, and other key stakeholders.
Educational Background
- Master's Degree in Accounting and Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA or an equivalent certification is highly preferred.
Additional Qualifications
- Proven experience in leading financial operations in a large, complex, or capital-intensive organization;
- Strong expertise in corporate finance, treasury management, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, taxation, auditing, and financial reporting;
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS, Ethiopian tax regulations, corporate governance, and internal control frameworks.
